”I am Teresa Sanders., Artist, Incorporator and Founder of BabySteps Amor’. I discovered and fell in love with the life-like Reborn Dolls, in 2015. Being of an artistic nature, I immediately became obsessed with learning the art of creating these dolls. What initially was intended as a hobby for myself, quickly turned into my painting for others, as well. Years ago, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, so dealing with ‘highs and ’lows’ was pretty much a part of everyday life for me. One of the first things I noticed upon interacting with the dolls, was the calming, relaxing feeling they gave me, along with a strong desire to nurture. The realism was so unbelievable that I couldn’t help but loose myself in them. My dolls quickly became my therapy. Whenever I would feel down or anxious about something, I would interact with them in one way or another, with painting, dressing, or creating videos. These things would almost always create a positive shift in my energy.

 After years of painting and collecting, I came up with an idea. I wanted my babies to be used as vessels throughout my own community, to help individuals dealing with emotional challenges, such as myself, One vivid memory I have that helped to inspired me in my mission, is of my dear friend’s mother, who at the time was suffering with dementia. My friend gifted her a doll that she had received from me. To see her mom smiling and interactng with her doll was so heartwarming. She loved her! She would relax and smile while holding her doll, who she kept beside her at all times. It truly touched my heart to see something that I created, bring so much comfort to a person who meant so much to me. 

Occasionally, I would dress a baby (doll) or two, and visit the nursing home, where my step-dad resided, at the time. I loved seeing the residents’ faces light up whenever I would let them hold them. You could almost see the calmness, and feel the love, whenever anyone interacted with my dolls.., from reactions during store or restaurant visits, to interactions with family members & friends. It’s always the same, an Over-Abundance of Love! This is my story and This is the development of BabySteps Amor’~

The Inner Beauty of Transformation~
This refers to the therapeutic process of painting reborn dolls. Through our upcoming workshops, it is our goal to encourage creativity, focused attention, and reduced stress & anxiety through the art of painting reborns. It is our hope that upon completion of their own personal doll, individuals will experience a sense of accomplishment, also a transformation which in turn may foster feelings of well-being, inner beauty and emotional healing.
